About us
Hilalah is a women-led grassroots in Syria that works to strengthen women’s and girls’ health and economic agency through local, alternative, transformative, and environmentally friendly solutions.
We produce reusable cloth pads, free of microplastics and any chemical intervention, locally made by Syrian women using locally sourced Syrian cotton: safe, practical, and sustainable.
As part of our campaign to support girls’ education, we distribute these cloth pads free of charge in schools, as part of a comprehensive initiative that seeks to remove all barriers preventing girls from continuing their education and to ensure their safe and uninterrupted access to school.

Alongside production and distribution, we launch participatory campaigns and initiatives led by women and girls addressing public health, education, environmental, economic, and social justice issues.
Through these actions, we aim to transform schools and communities into active spaces where women and girls exchange knowledge and experience, becoming partners and creators of change.
We believe that women’s economic independence and environmental protection are essential pillars of Syria’s recovery.
That’s why we work to create employment opportunities for women, improve working and educational environments, support local production, and lead environmental and health advocacy campaigns, guided by our belief that real change begins with women, wherever they have a voice and influence.
Through community action and environmentally conscious, responsible solutions, we strive to build a healthier and more resilient society, where women and girls are at the heart of recovery and reconstruction in Syria, not as recipients of aid, but as leaders of it.
